A brief tutorial on setting up your phone, tablet or PC for a zoom virtual meeting:
- If you intend to use your smartphone for a zoom meeting, you first have to go to Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.zoom.videomeetings and install the free zoom app for your phone type. Once you click on that link, google will sense your device type. Then install the app on your phone.
- Create an account for yourself with a login and password as directed if it is your first time installing it.
- If you intend to use a laptop or desktop computer (with internet) for the meeting go to https://zoom.us/signup
- Note: This is also a free app. You can listen and talk during the meeting without a camera.
- Easy instructions to go to a zoom meeting (go to the “MEETING LIST” tab on the menu to find our complete list-face to face and virtual):
- Real example- Click on a “Join zoom Meeting” link:
- That will start your phone zoom app for the daily 9am-10am Freedom to Choose meeting. You can try it ahead of time!
- Show up a little early for help (8:50 am) and you can turn on your video and audio and ask questions! It’s also the meeting before the meeting, and there is usually a meeting after the meeting (another 15 minutes or so).
- Usually, when a meeting starts, the chair person (known as the Host in zoom) will only allow one person to share at a time. You can turn the video off if you would like to. Have fun, be safe, stay clean!
